The story

La Serena Villas opened in 1933 as a group of 11 Spanish Eclectic bungalows on South Belardo Road. After a stalled renovation, the owners sought demolition in 2008, and the city council voted 3-2 in April 2009 to make it a Class 1 Historic Site. The Del Marcos’s owners bought it in 2012, and architect May Sung’s redevelopment reopened it as a boutique hotel in 2016.
