The story
Samuel Brannan, who founded Calistoga in 1861, built the cottage as one of 14 guest cottages for his 1862 hot springs resort, which also had a bathhouse, skating pavilion, restaurant and dance hall. The operator says Leland Stanford later owned it and that it is the last of the 1860 resort cottages still on its original site. It was one of the first Calistoga buildings listed on the National Register.
