The story
Edward Churchill, cashier of the James H. Goodman Bank, moved to Napa from Rochester, New York in 1878 and built this mansion on Brown Street in 1889. Two years later he built Cedar Gables directly behind it as a wedding gift for his son. After Churchill’s death in 1903 his widow and daughter stayed on, and the family sold the house in 1956; it was later restored as a bed and breakfast.
