The story

Native communities gathered at the area’s hot springs long before Captain Henry E. Boyes found 112-degree water while drilling a well in 1895 and opened the Boyes Hot Springs Hotel. After the resort was destroyed in 1923, the Sonoma Properties Company’s Fred Partridge and Rudolph Lichtenberg invested about $600,000 and hired architect Joseph L. Stewart to build a replica California mission, which opened in 1927. It now operates as a Fairmont resort with a spa.

The ghost story

Tenured employees report a woman in period dress named Victoria, said to have celebrated her wedding and anniversaries here, walking the halls on foggy nights; a room in the original inn building is said to be haunted by an elderly man, and the Round Room is called one of the most haunted. HHA has listed the inn as Most Haunted every year from 2021 to 2026.
