The story

The hotel opened in 1927 as the Ritz-Carlton, facing the Public Garden at Arlington and Newbury Streets, and carried the Ritz-Carlton name under two successive chains. Taj Hotels bought it in 2006 and renamed it Taj Boston on January 11, 2007. Taj Boston closed on October 31, 2019 for a modernization of ‘Boston’s original Ritz-Carlton’, and the reopening as The Newbury Boston, planned for early 2020, was pushed to May 2021 by the pandemic.
