The story
The First National Bank Building was the first bank and first skyscraper on 17th Street, the corridor once called the Wall Street of the West. Harry Edbrooke, who had designed the Tabor Opera House nearly three decades earlier, erected the 13-story tower in 1911. First National stayed until 1958, when the building became headquarters of American National Bank and later First Interstate Bank of Denver. After another renovation and the restoration of its exterior clock it reopened as a hotel in 1995, and the lobby still holds bank vaults.
