The story

The seven-story brick building went up on Second Avenue, Nashville’s 19th-century wholesale row, for the Gray & Dudley Hardware Co.; the hotel says the world’s first cotton candy machines were sold there around the turn of the 20th century. It was later converted into the 21c Museum Hotel Nashville, which ceased operating on July 28, 2023 and was replaced on August 1, 2023 by The Bankers Alley Hotel Nashville, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, keeping the ground-floor Gray & Dudley restaurant and art gallery. Owner RLJ Lodging Trust funded a multi-million-dollar renovation, and the hotel relaunched in June 2026 as The Untitled Nashville Hotel at Bankers Alley.
