The story

The Southern Hotel is a two-story brick commercial building with corner pavilions, matching balconies and arched windows, built in the early 1900s in downtown Covington. The 1982 nomination recorded it mid-restoration, and it reopened as a hotel in 2014. Its Garden House suites occupy the adjacent 1937 Covington Post Office, which keeps a New Deal-era mural by Xavier Gonzalez.
