The story

Around 1925 the Louisiana National Bank built a twelve-story Classical Revival tower on Third Street that, per the National Register nomination, seemed to ‘scrape the sky’ in 1920s Baton Rouge. It remained downtown’s tallest building until Huey Long built the 34-story State Capitol just north of the business district, and it later served as a state office building. It now operates as the Watermark hotel.
