The story
The Jung opened on December 19, 1925, designed by Weiss, Dreyfous and Seiferth; a 1928 expansion added a marble fountain and a retractable-roof Roof Garden. An early-1950s renovation made it the South’s largest hotel, with 1,200 rooms, and it hosted Hank Williams, a 1964 campaign gala for President Lyndon B. Johnson and a 1967 welcome for the new New Orleans Saints. After changing hands repeatedly between 1971 and 2012 it was restored as the Jung Hotel & Residences.
