The story
City officials created New Orleans Public Service Inc. (NOPSI) in 1922 to consolidate the city’s utilities, and in 1927 it opened a nine-story headquarters on Baronne Street designed by Favrot and Livaudais. NOPSI moved out in 1983 and the building sat empty for years. It was declared a city landmark in 2011, and Building and Land Technology, with Woodward Design + Build, converted it into a hotel that opened in 2017.
