The story
John Honerkamp, a Piedmont builder, bought the first three acres in 1945 and entered the tourist business the next year. It grew to more than 40 acres by the mid-1950s. Its National Register nomination treats it as a fine example of the roadside tourist courts built in the Black Hills in the first half of the century. The property was split in 2018, and the smaller original part keeps the name. Because of that split, ask for Cabins 4 to 14 and confirm your cabin before booking.
