The story
The Commercial Club, renamed the Fort Worth Club, commissioned the six-story building in 1915 from John James Pollard of Sanguinet & Staats, with Scottish-born contractor William Bryce. The club outgrew it and moved in 1926, after which it served as offices, notably for the Mid-Continent Supply Company. The adjoining 1890 Winfree Building housed the White Elephant Saloon from 1896. The pair reopened as The Ashton Hotel in 2001.
