The story
The Stoneleigh Court Hotel opened in October 1923 at Maple Avenue and Wolf Street, an 11-story fireproof concrete building of stone, terra cotta and brick that cost $1.5 million and marked the start of luxury high-rise living in Dallas. It offered residential-hotel amenities from a children’s gymnasium to a basement grocery, and an 11th-floor ballroom and solarium. Guests have included Frank Lloyd Wright, Judy Garland and Bob Hope. It reopened in 2026 as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection after a renovation.
