The story
John Alexander Klein of Cedar Grove built the house as a wedding gift for Susan Klein and Isaac Bonham, and its plan is a smaller version of Cedar Grove’s. Susan lived here until 1917, after which it became apartments. Dr. Ivy bought it in 1959 for $5,000 and returned it to a single-family home. The Whitneys bought it in the mid-1980s and made it a bed and breakfast, adding 11 guest rooms. The nomination notes a long service wing ending in a two-room servant quarters; the inn’s Guest Quarters rooms occupy that space.
