The story

The inn says the L-shaped brick structure behind the house was part of Frederick Stanton’s property, built as living quarters for the men who ran his stables and maintained his carriages; his mansion, Stanton Hall, stands around the corner. The district nomination describes it as the rear portion of a mid-19th-century brick building that no longer survives. The front house dates from the 1920s. The property took its name when it became lodging in the mid-1990s.
