The story
Col. John Martin McKleroy, an attorney and political leader tied to Anniston’s early industry, built the house in 1888 on the highest hill on Quintard Avenue. The nomination calls it the last surviving Victorian mansion on the street. It passed to William Coleman Wilson in 1920 and later to Frank and Robbie Kirby, and a developer bought it in 1984 for an inn and restaurant. It ran as the Victoria Inn and went through foreclosure and university and city ownership before closing for renovation in 2015. It reopened in 2016 as Hotel Finial.
