The story
The nomination dates the Eyer-Raiden Building to 1895 and describes three stories of red brick with arched windows above storefronts, one of the oldest buildings in the Automotive Historic District. Lark Hotels was named operator for its 2025 opening as a boutique hotel, with rooms on the second and third floors. The hotel’s name nods to a local legend that the building was a boarding house, possibly a brothel, run by Birmingham madam Louise Wooster, which is unverified. The original staircase remains and there is no elevator.
