The story

Homesteader families in sprawling Fergus County could not send children to high school daily, so a local corporation built this brick dormitory in 1917. Mrs. Emma Marsh bought it in 1928 and with her husband George converted it to a hotel, naming it The Calvert. She ran it for 41 years, and it has been a hotel ever since. Steve Duffy bought the property in 2007 and renovated it extensively.
