The story

William A. Clark, one of Butte’s Copper Kings, began this mansion in 1884 and finished it four years later at a cost the owners put at about half a million dollars. Clark presided over Montana’s two constitutional conventions and served in the U.S. Senate from 1901 to 1907. The house is now owner-operated as a bed and breakfast with public tours, and overnight guests receive a tour.

The ghost story

House Beautiful is reported to have named it the most haunted house in Montana, and some visitors describe a 'ghostly presence' in the ballroom.
