The story
The guest house occupies an 1876 icehouse built for a prominent Galena brewery, which once stored up to 800 tons of ice cut from the Galena River. Next door, the Artist Annex was built in 2001 on the footprint of a three-story stone building constructed in 1850 as the City Brewery; two of its vaulted stone rooms survive on the ground floor.
