The story
The Eppley Hotel Company built the Art Deco tower to a design by Kansas City architect Alonzo H. Gentry, opening it on December 20, 1930. Sheraton bought the Eppley chain in 1956 and ran it as the Sheraton-Warrior, converting it to a motor inn in 1962. After a 1971 strike it reopened briefly as the Aventino Motor Inn and closed for good in 1976. Restoration St. Louis restored the Warrior and the neighboring Davidson Building as a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, which reopened in September 2020.
