The story
Henry Weis moved his North Star Company from Burlington to Waterloo in 1891 and made egg-case fillers on machinery he designed himself. His 1902 house by Murphy and Ralston mixes Queen Anne massing, with a wraparound porch and complex roofline, with Colonial Revival details such as Ionic capitals, dentils and leaded and painted glass. The nomination calls it the best surviving example of this transitional style in Waterloo. Weis retired in 1921 and sold the business to former employees.
