The story

Charles Beiderbecke came to Davenport in 1856, built a grocery firm with partner F.H. Miller into the city’s largest wholesale grocer by the late 1880s, and was president of the Iowa National Bank from 1890 to 1901. The 1983 district nomination calls the house his second residence. The inn honors his grandson, the 1920s jazz cornetist Bix Beiderbecke. Owners Dennis and Pam LaRoque moved to the neighborhood in 1998 and spent about 20 years completing the restoration.
