The story
Proudfoot, Bird & Rawson designed the 12-story Liberty Building, completed in 1924 for Bankers Life Insurance and home to WHO radio; Bankers Life occupied it until 1940. Nelson Construction and K.C. Holdings rehabilitated the building in 2008. The 2010 nomination records the owners’ plan to turn floors four through eight into a hotel and their talks with Hyatt; the building now houses the Hyatt Place along with condominiums, offices and retail.
