The story
The Yellowstone Park Company built the log lodge in 1919-20 near a campsite once used by Theodore Roosevelt, and surrounded it with rustic cabins from 1922 onward. The 1983 historic district counts 124 contributing buildings, including the lodge and dozens of cabins. Guests choose between Frontier Cabins with bathrooms and Roughrider Cabins with wood stoves and shared bathhouses.
