The story

Springdale native Herbert Christensen, who had experience building bridges, designed and built the one-and-a-half-story cottage of stucco, cobblestone and red sandstone, finishing it in 1936. Locals call it the ‘fairytale’ or ‘storybook’ cottage, and the 2019 National Register listing calls it a rare example of the type in southwest Utah. It was converted to a bed and breakfast in the early 1980s, when a salvaged church window was added. Guests eat breakfast at Oscar’s Cafe a few steps away.
