The story
The Security Trust and Safe Deposit Company completed its brownstone bank at Market and Sixth streets in 1885, and the Central National Bank also operated from the building until 1890. In 1908 a 35-foot wing doubled the Market Street front, with the facade rebuilt in the original Victorian Romanesque style; a rear wing completed the building in 1927, and the bank later became the Bank of Delaware. Method Co. reopened the building in 2022 as The Quoin, a 24-room hotel with a restaurant, a rooftop bar and the Simmer Down cocktail bar. The hotel says it has held a MICHELIN Key every year since 2024.
