The story
Arthur and Ilda Boots opened the Boots Court in 1939 at the crossroads of Route 66 and US 71, in a Streamline Moderne style with black Carrara glass and green neon, advertising ‘a radio in every room’ and a carport for each unit. A second building followed in 1946. Private preservationists restored it, and its current owner, the Carthage-based nonprofit Boots Court Foundation, began taking overnight reservations again in July 2022.
