The story
The four-story brick Masonic Temple was built in 1906 to hold retail shops, offices, and an auditorium and meeting halls for Springfield’s Masons. Its storefront was remodeled around 1985 when the building was turned to office use. It is a contributing building in the Walnut Street Commercial Historic District, next to the Landers Theater. It reopened as the Hotel Vandivort, billed as Springfield’s first boutique hotel, with the Masonic ballroom kept as event space.
