The story
The inn was built in 1882 as the Meyer Hotel on North Main Street, and the district nomination singles it out as an example of post-Civil War commercial architecture in Ste. Genevieve. Owners Patrick Fahey and Susan O’Donnell spent a year renovating it, keeping the original architecture. It now has ten guest rooms with private baths, a contemporary art collection and a front porch on Main Street.
The ghost story
Unexplained noises from the top floor in the early morning hours are attributed by locals to a man who died in the building in the 1890s and is said to make noise for attention; his activity is described as harmless.
