The story

John H. Garth, a Hannibal businessman in lumber and banking and a friend of Samuel Clemens, built this 2-1/2-story Second Empire mansion around 1871 as a summer home. It has mansard roofs, a projecting tower, four porches and two bay windows on a limestone foundation. Wikipedia says 85-90% of the second-floor furnishings are original to the house. It now operates as a bed and breakfast on more than 36 acres.
