The story
The Gate City National Bank, founded in 1906, moved into this terra cotta-clad building, designed in 1920 by the Kansas City firm Keene & Simpson, occupying the first floor and leasing the upper floors. The nomination calls it an eclectic blend rather than a typical bank or 1920s high-rise. The bank was renamed Traders National Bank in 1949. The building now houses the Ambassador Hotel, an Autograph Collection property with a curved marble staircase and The American Reserve restaurant.
