The story

The original Mt. Hood Hotel, beside the railroad depot, dates to the town’s founding (the hotel gives 1888). As the fruit industry and tourism grew, the hotel added a brick annex in 1912 on the corner of Oak and First streets, which is today’s Hood River Hotel. The original building closed after 1926 and was removed around 1930, leaving the annex as the town’s oldest hotel.
