The story

The seven-story Cornelius Hotel opened in 1908, designed by John V. Bennes’s firm and run until 1920 by Charles W. Cornelius, Multnomah County’s first coroner. A 1985 fire left its top floors unusable and it stood vacant for more than two decades. The adjacent nine-story Woodlark Building of 1912 was among Portland’s earliest commercial skyscrapers. The two were joined and converted into the Woodlark hotel, which opened on December 15, 2018.
