The story
The Orcas Hotel was built between 1900 and 1904 on the slope above the Orcas ferry landing and has greeted island arrivals ever since. The Van Moorhem family ran it for years, and Octavia Van Moorhem’s home cooking became well known. It was added to the National Register in 1982, and later owners added private bathrooms to the guest rooms.
