The story
Frank Hastings, who had arrived as a four-year-old with Loren B. Hastings’s founding party in 1852, began the house in 1889; the nomination says the exterior was finished in 1890 but the interior was left incomplete until a later owner finished it. The house later became known as the Old German Consulate. It now operates as a five-room bed and breakfast with a three-course breakfast.
