The story
The hotel occupies three adjoining buildings on First Avenue designed by architect Max Umbrecht around 1901: the Globe Building, the Beebe Building and the Hotel Cecil. The nomination calls them the last contiguous block of circa-1900 buildings on First Avenue. Long known as the Alexis Hotel (a Kimpton property), it now operates as The Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel Seattle.
