The story

Seattle builder Stephen Berg opened the 12-story Bergonian Hotel in July 1927, designed by the firm Stuart & Wheatley, with 240 rooms at the time. Renamed the Mayflower Park, it claims to be the oldest continuously operating hotel in downtown Seattle and is known for its terra cotta facade. The hotel marked its 99th year in 2026 and is a Historic Hotels of America member.

The ghost story

The Seattle Times' guide to the city's haunted hotels tells of an older gentleman often seen in room 1120, where visitors report objects shifting and a feeling of being watched; it calls him more prankster than poltergeist.
