The story
German Moravians founded Hope in 1769, and their stone grist mill, finished in 1770, was the village’s first permanent building; it ground flour into the 1950s. The Historic American Buildings Survey documented the mill complex in 1942. Today the restored mill houses overnight rooms and a fireside tavern, and the property is run as a wedding venue by Frungillo Hospitality Group.
