The story

The colonial-era house originally stood on Nassau Street near University Place, where it was owned by Jonathan Deare, a delegate to the first Provincial Congress of 1775 and a member of the Continental Congress, and lodged fellow congressmen. In 1875 William Libbey III moved it to 20 Bayard Lane. Joseph and Helen O’Connor bought it in 1911 and opened it as The Peacock Inn, naming it after an inn in England. Albert Einstein made it his temporary home for ten days in 1933.
