The story
The Grenville is a 3½-story Queen Anne hotel with a conical-capped corner tower, built around 1890, and the Bay Head district nomination calls it the last of the town’s great 19th-century hotels. In 1901 its owners pushed for electric and trolley service from Point Pleasant, which led to a pole-chopping standoff with the mayor before electricity arrived in 1903. The hotel was completely renovated in 1985 and has been owned by Harry Typaldos since 2004; it added Bay Head’s first elevator.
