The story
Taliesin-affiliated architect J.C. Caraway designed the roadside motel near Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin, and Kraemer Brothers built it in 1952 as the Rest Haven Motel. A Kraemer family builder recalled that it was clad in Reynolds aluminum siding, then a new product the company was testing with volunteers. It was renamed the Usonian Inn in 1991 and listed on the National Register in 2011.
