The story

The four-story brick building went up in 1898 for the Joseph B. Funke Company, a candy manufacturer, to designs by Stoltze & Schick, with an addition in 1908. Its full-height brick piers and dentil cornice survive on the exterior. The former FUNKE candy factory was listed on the National Register in 2014 and now houses what the hotel bills as La Crosse’s only boutique hotel, with a rooftop terrace and restaurant.
