The story
Solomon Sterner built the 2 1/2-story brick Greek Revival inn about 1842 to serve travelers on the National Road. Known over the years as Drover’s Inn, Farmer’s Hotel and Dorsey’s Hotel, it was listed on the National Register in 1976 as one of eleven Maryland inns on the National Road, and the Maryland Historical Trust notes it is still run as a hotel and restaurant. The historic inn offers the two-room Dorsey Suite and two other rooms; the business also runs a separate 40-room motel, a restaurant and a bakery.
