The story
John Hutchinson came to Minnesota from Canada in 1859, served in the Civil War, ran sawmilling and mercantile businesses in Dundas, and moved to Faribault in 1876. He made his fortune manufacturing furniture, and the nomination calls his large two-story frame house of 1892 a particularly fine local example of the Victorian houses built by the town’s elite. Today it is a three-suite boutique inn with an octagonal turret and wraparound porch.
