The story
The Hurd family opened the Hurd House in 1856, and in 1887 son-in-law Ziba C. Goss added the large three-story section that completed the building. The Anderson family bought it in 1909 and made the Anderson Hotel famous for Dutch cooking and for cats that guests could take to their rooms overnight. It closed on 19 March 2009 during the recession, was bought and remodeled in 2011, and now runs as a self-check-in hotel with a restaurant, game room and speakeasy.
