The story
The building went up around 1872 as the Thompson store on Lanesboro’s main street, when the town was a growing river and rail stop. In the 1980s Jack and Nancy bought it and opened a bed and breakfast that, the hotel says, helped Lanesboro earn its name as a bed-and-breakfast capital. The Skellys now run it as Hotel Lanesboro, a nine-room self-check-in hotel with the Root River behind it.
