The story
The NRHP nomination records the building under the historic names Ives Tavern, Old Ives Hotel, Riverton Hotel and Yale’s Hotel. Tradition dates it to 1796, but the nomination dates it to about 1811, when Jesse Ives acquired the property, and says its five levels suggest it was built as a tavern rather than a home. It was listed on the National Register in 1992 and lies within the Riverton Historic District. Today it has 10 guest rooms overlooking the west branch of the Farmington River and the Royal Coachman Tavern, run by owner Sherice Levan-Bennett (inn).
