The story

Regalia manufacturer Frank Henderson, who had platted the Henderson Park area on family farmland in the late 1880s, built the mansion on the hill overlooking downtown in 1890-95 to a design by Charles A. Gombert of Milwaukee. The district nomination calls it one of Michigan’s nineteenth-century showplaces. It now operates as an inn with a restaurant, spa and wine tastings; the estate was listed for sale in February 2024.

The ghost story

FOX 17 reports that the castle's guardian believes Frank and Mary Henderson still linger, that Mary's old bedroom saw the most activity, and that a Lady in White was first reported in 1990.
